Red is one of the most beautiful, vibrant and celebrated colors. Not only is it cupid’s favorite but, it is also every fashion enthusiast’s. No matter the shade of red a woman wears, it will elevate her overall look instantly. It is a winning dress code any day, any time.
One of the best, most colorful and popular golf events — the annual Nancy Millar golf tournament — was held at the Karen Country Club in Nairobi. The tournament and prize giving ceremony, well known for combining golf and fashion, was the perfect weekend dress up event against the backdrop of lovely weather; the blue sky up above dotted with fluffy white clouds with the sun shining brightly over the green lawns of Karen Country Club, often considered one of the prettiest courses in Kenya.
The Sunday prize giving ceremony saw the lady golfers all decked out in red looking resplendent led by the ever gracious and beautiful Karen Country Club Lady Captain Martha Vincent.
The golf event and luncheon was attended by female golfers from Vet Lab, Muthaiga, Royal, Limuru, Railway, Sigona, Windsor, Golf Park, Ruiru, Thika Barracks, Kenya Armed Forces, Nyeri, Nandi, Eldoret, Mombasa and Nyali.
Nancy Millar was one of the first members of Karen Country club in 1937 and Lady Champion in 1952, 1953 and 1954. She also served as Chairperson of the KLGU in 1958 and as Secretary of the union during the 60s and early 70s. During those early years, the Karen Ladies Open meeting was similar to the Ladies Open meetings held at Limuru, Muthaiga and many other clubs in the country. At Karen, one of the three 18 hole competitions held during the Karen Open Meeting was named the Nancy Millar Trophy.
Others who attended the prize giving ceremony and luncheon included KCC Chairman Allan Wainaina, Captain James Ngotho, Past Captain Andy Watt, a friend of the section Alex Duncanson and committee members led by Vice Lady Captain Doreen Murithi, Duty officers Pamela Lwande & Bronia Githinji, Betty Gacheru, Akinyi Gitonga, Vicky Karuga, Henri Block, Tiffaney Alga & Margareta Gram.
The Nancy Millar Trophy 2022 was sponsored by I&M Bank, Z. Boskovic Air Charters, Crown Paints & KWAL. The tournament is a two day event played in teams of 4; dressed in matching outfits on the course.
