Treat yourself or a loved one to High Tea @ Fairmont The Norfolk

Tea is undeniably the most widely consumed beverage in the world and deservingly so. It is the one drink that fits perfectly into so many moods, situations, and temperatures. Whether it’s extremely hot or cold outside, tea works for any occasion. In Kenya, tea is a constant staple in every household.

Fairmont The Norfolk’s High tea is simply a must have, an absolute treat that is irresistibly delectable. On one beautiful sunny afternoon in the city, we made our way to The Norfolk to sample this treat on what was to be a two-hour session but ended up being a four-hour session of extra pure bliss and enjoyment.

From the moment you walk in, I must say Fairmont The Norfolk’ is a haven of comfort and luxury, a hidden gem with alluring old-world charm and elegant contemporary design that offers guests a sophisticated retreat in the city. This right here, sets the mood for a quintessential indulgence of High tea. You can either choose to have your high tea in the serene gardens, Cin Cin terrace or inside the Cin cin bar.

There are two sets of menus to choose from, both beautifully balanced in terms of sweetness, sharpness and richness with a Kenyan twist and generous servings of what makes the high tea, what it is.

The first set is presented in a beautiful chest of drawers while the second set comes in a tradition afternoon tea three stand tier. Each element has its own story that’s told by the waiter (we were lucky to have the pastry chef take us through it) and it’s evident a lot of time and love has gone into the creation of the menu.

From the Freshly baked scones to the Cornish clotted cream and strawberry preserve, to the pastries and cakes and the finely cut sandwiches, everything is meticulously designed and pure magic. The crowning glory of the tea is undoubtedly the pastry delicate macarons, cakes at the top of the tier.

Whether you love tea, or just occasionally drink tea, remember a regular cup of tea makes for an excellent companion and can help you to stay healthy too.
