Seasons evolve, they come and go but you know what will always stand out? Your personal style. It is the first impression people have of you, before you utter any word and that image, forever stays on peoples’ minds. Your style simply brings out your personality. According to Forbes, “what you wear can inform passersby of your type of employment, as well as your ambitions, emotions and spending habits.” In the words of Rachel Zoe, “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.” 

Style is a major part of U.S. Grammy award winning star Anthony Hamilton. If you look closely at all his pictures, one thing quickly stands out- the fedora hats. The hats scream style and “I have good taste.”

It is a known fact that when you wear a fedora hat, you are instantly a trendsetter. It is a hat that can be worn with any outfit and you will absolutely look great.  Anthony says, “there’s gonna be a hat, an amazing one in every show. It’s the trademark for the sound.”

Capital Lifestyle had an exclusive photo shoot session with Anthony Hamilton at the Sankara Nairobi, Autograph Collection, during his recent tour in Nairobi, Kenya courtesy of Radio Africa’s Stanbic Yetu Festival. The festival is organized by Radio Africa Events in partnership with Stanbic Bank and seeks to nurture and promote the development of the performing and visual arts in Kenya.

He also shared some tips on all things style.

What words would you use to describe your style?

“My style is comfort with the influences of freestyle bohemian and classic material.”

Who inspires you, and why? Any one you admire in terms of style?

“I’m influenced by people I see. I think there’s been such great designers and innovators of style some famous, some not over the years. I’m a big fan of John Varvatos, Rich Fresh and Nicole King. I’m also influenced by everyday people who put it on right and put it on freely.”

How many hats do you own/ have?

“I own about 500 hats and in the process of designing more. I’m also a big fan of Frances Grey, Herron hats and Jon Narcisso.”

Ever thought of starting a fashion line….your own brand of hats?

“I’m in the process of doing that as we speak and I’m very excited about it. I want to change the way people see Hats. It’s about time I put my stamp in the fashion world to express my what Anthony loves.”

What are the top 3 items every man should have in his wardrobe?

“A nice suit, a great hat and a pair of shoes that shouts lets all kick ass together! Lol oh yeah. Also some kick ass jewelry and a great big smile.”

Anthony Hamilton is not only a Grammy award-winner but also, a multiplatinum singer-songwriter, producer with over 25 years in the game, and once described as, “one of the last of the soul singers that had an impact on modern culture.”
