Monday 25th May, ViacomCBS Networks Africa and YouTube in partnership with Idris Elba will host a special 2-hour concert to celebrate Africa Day.
Africa day is intended to celebrate the successes of the Organization of African Unity in the fight against colonialism and apartheid as well as the progress that Africa has made.
The event dubbed “Africa Day Benefit Concert at Home” has some of Africa’s biggest stars lined up to perform including Kenya’s very own, Sauti Sol.
With over 100,000 confirmed cases of Corona Virus in the continent, the funds raised from this concert will go to World Food Programme and the UNICEF who are currently supporting food and health needs for children and vulnerable families affected by the pandemic across Africa.
The concert will also feature performances by Grammy-winning, Angelique Kidjo, Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz, Nigeria’s Burna Boy, South Africa’s Sho Madjozi amongst others.
South African comedian Trevor Noah, reigning Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi and rapper Sean Paul are also part of the concert’s line up.
The event will be streamed on MTV Base Africa YouTube Channel at 7PM EAT.
