Fairmont The Norfolk played host to an unforgettable afternoon of refined sophistication and partaking of this very rich British Tradition, as it served up glamour, fashion, coupled with Moët & Chandon, the best-selling champagne brand and a decadent supper high tea at an invite- only event that truly lived up to its name.
According to legend, tea was invented in China in 2,737 BC, when a breeze blew a tea leaf into a cup of hot water about to be consumed by Emperor Shennong. After China and Japan, where the elegance of the modern tea rituals, there’s probably no country whose national identity is as tied to tea as England.
This glamorous event rekindled the English Tea affair dating back to the early 1700s. An exercise that started off as an apparent way to keep Anna the Duchess of Bedford from mild hunger pangs in between meals; later this developed into a fashionable social event.
The guests decked out in their finest attires, dressed to the nines, adding a rich sense of glam to the event with head turning range of gowns especially the ladies, all in the fifty shades of Champagne colors, the dress code.

Guests were treated to The Norfolk High Tea, The Savoy Style option and London locally inspired Mombasa High Tea and the newly launched Norfolk Vegetarian option of afternoon tea delight. From the Selection of Finger Sandwiches (Smoked Salmon, Ham & Mustard (P), Egg Salad), to Freshly Baked Raisin and Plain Scones (Clotted Cream, Passion Fruit Curd, Strawberry Preserves), Afternoon Tea Pastries (Mocha Éclair, Macaroons, Strawberry Tartlet, Dark Chocolate Cake) and Lord Delamere Signature Cakes (Carrot Cake and Fruit Cake).
