The Kenya International Polo Tournament was the ticket to get your hands on to enjoy a beautiful day of fashion, music and good sport basking in the summer sun at the Jamhuri Park (Polo Grounds) for the annual Polo Tournament hosted by Nairobi Polo Club. It was two weekends back to back of intricate, intriguing and enticing entertainment and good company couples with amazing Polo.

The tournament, which is the quintessential social event of the year, not be missed, lived up to its name and to borrow the words of one famous author,…it was a weekend of ..”heritage of elegance, congenial hospitality, and sensory scintillation coupled with incredible horsepower action and sportsman ship and entertainment.”

Founded in 1907, and based in the heart of Nairobi’s heaving metropolis, the Nairobi Polo Club has the distinction of being the oldest polo club in East Africa. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and an illustrious list of both playing and social members, the Club has become a center for both new players to kick off their polo experience and seasoned players to battle it out in exciting high goal tournaments.

The international Polo Tournament, which attracts both local and international players, is an annual event which marks the climax of the Kenyan polo season. The tournament is usually organized over two weekends, with the first weekend being the 6-goal tournament (for teams with a collective handicap of six), which curtain raises for the mouth-watering 14-goal tournament which is open for elite players whose collective handicap must reach 14.

In perfect summer weather, the attendees enjoyed a day of fashion, drinks, conversation and riveting polo and networking with the who’s who. The Kenya International Polo Tournament was indeed the ticket to get your hands on to enjoy a glorious day basking in the beautiful sun at Jamhuri Park/ Polo grounds in Nairobi the past two weekends.

We cannot wait for the new season to begin next year for more fun and sport at Polo.
