1.Exercise
Taking care of your physical health will give you a sense of well-being and improve your mental health. Working out will help you feel more energetic throughout the day, relieve stress which improves your overall mood and help you sleep better at night.
2.Eat well
Research has found that what we eat does not only affect our physical health but our mental health too. Eating a balanced diet can help you feel more alert and think clearly while poor diet can aggravate and lead to stress and depression. It is important that you pay attention to how different foods make you feel and make sure your food is well balanced.
3.Surround yourself with good people
Difficult life moments can strain your mental health and having a great support network like friends and family will definitely keep you going. Poor social support has been linked to depression and suicide and it’s important that you lean on someone who has your best interest at heart.
4.Accept and value yourself
Nitpicking and being too critical will drain your energy, confidence and create a mental burden which may translate into depression, anxiety and even suicide. Be kind and patient with yourself and avoid self criticism.
5.Ask for help when you need it.
Never shy from talking, express how you’re feeling no matter how hard it is.
