Essence magazine, a popular premiere lifestyle, fashion and beauty magazine for African-American women, described the Kenyan coastal town as a true gem where travelers seeking to feel at home should visit. When we called her for a comment, the ever bubbly Sharon Mundia couldn’t hide her joy excitedly saying, “..I had no idea they’be running the story so you can only imagine my shock when i realized that not only did i get featured on an iconic magazine that celebrates black culture, beauty and excellence; but they were also highlighting my favorite place on earth.” Sharon confesses to loving the island in all its serenity for its history and culture, sense of community, simplicity of life, and peace that she says can only be described as Godly.
