The bar has been raised once again with the introduction of the Ford Kuga SUV in Kenya.
“We are thrilled with the new Kuga offering,” says Kagwiria Mbiti, Head of Ford Operations, CMC Motors. “With stunning new design inside and out, smart technologies, fuel-efficient yet powerful engines, and five-star safety, it’s a vehicle that will stand out for our customers.”
The refreshed Kuga is set to battle it out for market share with the likes of the recently launched Nissan X-Trail, Hyundai Santa FE and Renault Koleos.
The Kuga design language follows a more conservative path, but pulls off a smart looking SUV style in the process.
The Kuga front profile incorporates the family ‘trapezoidal’ design theme that Ford is rolling out onto the majority of global models.
It gives the car a much more modern face, and a decidedly American look. It works well, from the twin-bar grille to the angular fog-lamp housings.
Smart and intuitive interior
Step inside and you will notice how the cabin is logically well laid. Noticeable changes include a redesigned dash with the huge center console multimedia display taking prominence. It incorporates the latest Ford SYNC 3 voice command system, that allows you to access certain functions like audio, satellite navigation and climate control without taking your hands off the steering wheel. It also incorporates both Apple Car Play and Android Auto interface to ensure seamless integration with your smartphone at all times.
The new Kuga has improved leg and head room with supportive seats suitable for long drives plus plenty of luggage space to spare.
Efficient EcoBoost performance
The new Kuga relies on Ford’s powerful yet extremely efficient 1.5-litre EcoBoost engine. Two output levels are offered, comprising a unit with 110kW and 240Nm of torque in the front-wheel drive six-speed manual derivative.
A 132kW version of the 1.5 EcoBoost engine is provided on the models equipped with the six-speed automatic transmission – available in front-wheel drive guise.
Ford has beefed-up the safety profile of the Kuga by introducing a mix of active and passive features like Anti Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESP), multiple airbags and ISOFIX anchor points suitable for infant seats.
