Researchers have discovered that women who consume apples every day may have a healthier sex drive than those that don’t.
Eating one or two apples a day could result in a more active sex life
The study from the Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics examined 781 sexually active women aging from 18 to 43 over the course of seven months and found that the ones who ate one or two apples on a regular basis reported a higher quality of sexual function.
The study reported that eating an apple or two regularly was “associated with higher Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) scores in sexually active female patients, thus increasing their lubrication and overall sexual function.”
What’s in an apple?
Although the researchers did admit to correlation, they did not confirm whether the apples themselves resulted in a healthier sex life or whether it indicated that the women were healthier overall.
However, apples have been said to contain phloridzin, a relative of estradiol which improves vaginal lubrication, and antioxidants and polyphenols which can cause an increasing amount of blood flow to the genital area.
Foods that boost libido (2) Regular consumption of apples is known to result in a wealth of other health benefits including combating heart disease, lowering LDL cholesterol levels, improving the immune system, speeding up the metabolism and controlling blood pressure.
Red wine and chocolate may also improve your libido
Red wine and chocolate are another source of these elements. But don’t pick up the bar of chocolate yet!

Apple peels could hold the key
The researchers have theorized that the benefits themselves may come from the peels of the apples which hold higher concentrations of the phenolic compound than the flesh of the apples. They deem their results “intriguing” and believe that further research should be undertaken to fully understand the benefits of apples on the female libido.
