Launched in 2018, the 50 Best BBVA Scholarship is a new scheme that provides unique opportunities for aspiring chefs to gain experience in some of the best restaurants in the world.

This exciting initiative in partnership with BBVA offers one culinary enthusiast the opportunity of a lifetime: work experience in two of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants’ kitchens.

The scholarship aims at nurturing the talent and potential of an aspiring chef through stages in world-famous kitchens. The first 50 Best BBVA Scholarship will take place between June and September 2018, with the recipient spending six weeks working at Andoni Luis Aduriz’s restaurant Mugaritz in San Sebastian, Spain, No.9 in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017, and six weeks in the kitchen of the 2016 World’s Best Female Chef Dominique Crenn at Atelier Crenn in San Francisco, USA.

Applications are open to chefs with less than three years’ experience in a professional kitchen and ambitious culinary students over the age of 18 from anywhere in the world. Entries are open now until Monday 5th February 2018 and can be submitted on the 50 Best BBVA Scholarship application website. The winner will be announced in April and will receive the award at The World’s 50 Best Restaurants ceremony in Bilbao, Spain, in June 2018, in front of leading chefs and international media.
