#TrendAlert: Corduroy – the cool yet slightly nerdy fabric that’s back with a bang!

Once again, fashion has taken inspiration from the ’70s to revive yet another cool, vintage-inspired comeback: corduroy.

This fabric is essentially a ribbed form of velvet that has a very retro, nerdy mood to it but has been bolstered into the current fashion climate thanks to designers, style icons and celebrities alike.

Not only was this fabric captured severally by street style photographers during fashion week, it also featured on major runways including Mulberry, Marc Jacobs, Ermanno Scervino and Brock Collection.

And when it comes to the designers’ take on this trend, it seems the way to tackle it is through a fiercely and unapologetic monochromatic style. Basically, more is more.

That being said, if you’re trepidatious about taking on this trend in such a bold manner, we’ve also shared some single pieces through which you could try out this retro look.

Pair this fabric with a pair of tinted, round-shaped sunglasses and you might as well be in a David Bowie video circa 1977!

So what do you think? Will you be giving this retro look a shot?
