Michael Soi’s ‘Recent Works’ exhibition opens on Thursday 26th January 2017 and features the artist’s recent paintings for sale at discounted prices. 50 percent of proceeds will go towards supporting Kuona Trust.
Soi’s work provides a photographic diary of Nairobi and is a satirical commentary of social, economic and political trends. He explores relationships – inter-generational, interracial or generally what he calls the economics of love, commercial sex work and popular culture within the context of globalization & consumerism.
“This exhibition is my small bit attempt to support an organization that literally made me into the creative I am today… come let’s raise as much as we can for our beloved KT” – Michael Soi.
A hallmark of his art is his unique vision and highly distinctive style usually brightly-colored paintings with black outlines that are illustrative in nature and are both playful and biting.
Soi has participated in numerous workshops & residencies; exhibited widely locally and internationally; and has a huge following of collectors and enthusiasts globally.
The exhibition ends 11th February 2017. Entry is free.
