Toblerone lovers are in uproar over the chocolate’s new shape and are left “distressed” the triangular treat will lose it’s peaks.

The longstanding nougat bar, which is known for its distinctive triangular peaks, is under re-construction and will have more flat spaces in between each piece for aesthetic purposes and to reduce the weight of the sweet and the costs of the ingredients.

Speaking in a statement shared on Facebook, the brand wrote: “Like many other companies, we are experiencing higher costs for numerous ingredients.

“We carry these costs for as long as possible, but to ensure Toblerone remains on-shelf, is affordable and retains the triangular shape, we have had to reduce the weight of just two of our bars in the UK, from the wider range of available Toblerone products.”

However the new design, which will drop from 400 grams in weight to 360 grams, has left many chocoholics “distressed”.

One user replied: “Hi Toblerone, I am one of your biggest fans and love your chocolate, but I bought a 150gram Toblerone earlier only to be left upset, disappointed and a little distressed!

“In fact I felt cheated.”
