Jaden Smith doesn’t care what people think of him

Jaden Smith doesn’t care what people think of him and his confidence to wear outrageous outfits comes from believing in himself.

The 17-year-old actor is often seen in public wearing skirts and nail polish and has the confidence to carry off some of his more outrageous ensembles because of his own belief in himself.

He said: “You just have to believe in yourself, you know.

“The world is going to keep bashing me for whatever I do, and I’m going to keep not caring. I’m going to keep doing the same things – I’m going to keep doing more things.”

The ‘Karate Kid’ star has his own clothing and lifestyle brand, MSFTSrep and has huge ambitions for the range.

He told Nylon magazine: [I want to] inspire and change the way people think about clothing and about life.”

Jaden – who is the son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith – can next be seen in Netflix TV show ‘The Get Down’, which chronicles the birth of hip-hop in 1970s New York.

And filming the show made him realise how much easier it is to learn about new things now thanks to the Internet.

He said: “They were more dedicated to learning and I feel like that is not something that we necessarily have right now. People would go to record stores and actually buy the records they wanted.

“They would go to bookstores and read up on Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Gandhi, and all these different people. And now we just have the internet to do everything for us.”

Jaden hopes that his fame can help to remove the stigma around gender fluidity.

He explained: “So, you know, in five years when a kid goes to school wearing a skirt, he won’t get beat up and kids won’t get mad at him. I’m taking the brunt of it so that later on, my kids and the next generations of kids will all think that certain things are normal that weren’t expected before my time.”
