I have come to truly enjoy my at-home, spa-like treatments which often begin with a comfy pyjama set, some good music and and an even better face mask.

My skin has truly come a long way since the stubborn incessant rash and constant pimple outbreaks I was plagued with during my teens and early 20s. I spent a fair bit of time gathering as much information on great skin care practices (you can read all about that here) and grew to love the process of a well thought out beauty regimen.

After hearing my colleague rave about a new mask that she was using, I couldn’t help but want to know more about it and with a name like My Little Secret, you can only imagine just how much my curiosity had been piqued.

The homemade mask is thoughtfully created by Chao using ingredients such as qasil and turmeric to promote radiance, reduce bacteria and leave you with healthy skin.

I’ve got to admit, I’ve only been using it for a little over week but love that it leaves my skin feeling clean without being stripped of all moisture.

To use the mask, take  teaspoon of the product and mix it with about a teaspoon of warm milk in order to create a paste. Why milk? Well, it has antibacterial properties and gently cleanses the face which leaves you with an even better glow. Make sure you start off with a clean face then apply the mask and leave it for 10 – 15 minutes before rinsing off.

Given that qasil (one of the main ingredients) is actually finally crushed leaves that women in Somali have used for years to cleanse and purify their skin, it’s no surprise that the paste bears a plant-like aroma.

I use it twice a week and will definitely restocking once product is done!
