Kenya was feted the Best Place or Nation Brand at the just concluded 2016 Transform Mena Awards, in Dubai.
Kenya was recognized for her branding journey following her aggressive campaign to position the country as the destination of choice for trade, tourism and investment through “Make it Kenya” – a campaign that was developed by the Ministry of Tourism and officially launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta during the Milan Expo 2015.
“Make it Kenya” was developed to combat the construed image about Kenya (insecure) that has had a negative impact on the country as a tourism and investment destination. The new brand was also intended to inspire pride in Kenyans and send a clear call for action for businesses interested in Kenya while also providing tourists with an engaging selection of branded content.
The judges unanimously loved the Make it Kenya Brand. One said, “This was a very well executed campaign. What stood out the most was not just the fact that it effectively met the challenge at hand or had a nice logo, but rather that the strategy was very comprehensive. The branding translated well across all channels.”
The Transform Mena Awards recognize best practices in corporate product and global brand development work with categories that focus on strategy, execution, content and evaluation.
