Mrs South Africa, Candice Abrahams, was last night named the winner of this year’s Mrs World pageant
Abrahams was handed her crown at the annual 27th Mrs World event, which took place in Dongguan, China, on Saturday night.
Women from 45 other countries in the world participated in the competition, with Abrahams walking away victorious after she and Mrs Poland were named as the top two finalists.
Commenting on her win in a statement, Abrahams said: “What an honour to be able to bring the Mrs World crown home to South Africa. It has always been a dream of mine to win Mrs South Africa and to represent my country on the international stage; to be bringing home the title is just the cherry on the top of my achievements over the last year.”
Abrahams is married to Metro FM DJ, Ismail Abrahams, who took to social media to gush about his wife’s great achievement. The couple are proud parents to two children
“My wife @candice_abrahams just won Mrs World title. So proud,” he wrote alongside a photo on Instagram.
Abrahams – a model, aspiring actress, fashion- and décor blogger, and business woman – was a firm favourite throughout the competition, during which she paraded in her national costume, designed by Anel Botha, and an accompanying headpiece by Riana Conradie. She also represented her country in a flowing, cream-coloured dress by Werner Dey.
Said Joani Johnson, CEO of the Mrs SA pageant, in a statement: “We are beyond excited that Candice has taken this esteemed title. It is something that we have been working towards since she was crowned in October last year. We always believed that Candice would bring the title home and it is an overwhelming moment for the entire team that Candice has achieved her international goal.”
