Originally from Thailand, Chef Atita Tuparsa is the newest chef to make the big move to Africa’s growing culinary destination, Nairobi, Kenya.

In recent years, Nairobi has seen an influx of global culinary talent and as a result, the city’s palate for ethnic cuisine has also grown strength-to-strength, especially pan-Asian cusine.

“A lot of Kenyans enjoy Thai food,” Chef Atita shares exclusively in the latest installment of Tastemakers. “I want to be the one to popularize Thai cuisine in Kenya.”

Susan Wong sits down with the charming chef in Nairobi, Kenya to learn more about her move to Kenya, how to make a Red Curry paste, and what it takes to be a successful female chef.
