Could scientists have discovered ‘drunk gene’?

drunk gene

Scientists have discovered a gene that makes people do things they regret when drunk.

The supposed medical breakthrough might be used to explain why some people are more prone to violence and generally acting in ways that are out of character when they are under the influence of alcohol.

The researchers have even suggested that the findings may be used to advise people to consume less alcohol.

Psychiatrist Dr Roope Tikkanen, of the University of Helsinki, said: “The results also indicate that persons with this mutation are more impulsive by nature even when sober, and they are more likely to struggle with self-control or mood disorders.”
