The road to the Global Final, arguable the most coveted prize in mixology, begun in Kenya a few weeks ago and saw the first Kenyan champion crowned at the nation’s inaugural Diageo World Class competition held at Nairobi’s DusitD2 hotel, on Wednesday.

Akash Tomar of Hotel Royal Orchid impressed the judges and edged his competitors with his speed, meticulous execution and balanced cocktails at the Kenyan final. Alex Kavita from Vineyard Restaurant and Wine Bar, Perminus Kariuki of DusitD2 Nairobi, and Benu Gopal of Brew Bistro and Lounge completed the Top 4 from a list of 22 shortlisted Kenyan mixologists.
