#HealthyMind: Don’t Worry, Be Happy


(SHIRO MAINA) There is always that one moment in a day when you feel the world is against you. Even if you’re having the best day of your life! Here’s the thing, we have moments of self doubt whether we want to admit to it or not. You think everyone can see that stray hair that refuses to stick with the rest or a ‘serious’ crease on your dress that just won’t smooth out. It might be that ‘ugly’ day; you know when you feel like an ogre? These small and barely noticeable things tend to bother you so much that you might not be able to go on with your day.

Now imagine that same feeling when it comes to your relationship. There comes a time when you feel like you are the worst spouse ever. Maybe you refused to reply his text yesterday or you saw a friend/workmate of his who looks prettier than you think you are. It lets down your self esteem so bad that you start thinking he is with you for pity since you are so ‘ugly’. He can date his prettier friend right? Wrong!

That feeling of self hate is only normal. We are human with emotions so don’t expect that you’ll have a good day every day. There will always be a time when we think people are better than us-and they might be-but you do not need to sink yourself in depression over it. The girl you hate seems to be doing better than you but so what? It’s ok to feel bad for a while but kick yourself in the butt and move on. Compete with yourself to be better than you were yesterday and trust me you’ll feel better.
