A five-year-old boy has been fined for missing a birthday party.
The boy, Alex, had been planning on attending his friend’s birthday party at Plymouth’s Ski Slope and Snowboard Centre, but instead chose to spend the day with his grandparents, which led to the fellow child’s mother fining him.
Speaking about the moment his wife discovered the invoice, Alex’s dad, Derek, explained: “On January 15 she looked in Alex’s school bag and found a brown envelope. It was an invoice for £15.95 for a child’s party no show fee.”
The mother who organised the party, Ms Lawrence, has since threatened to take the couple to the small claims court if they do not pay up, with her son being forbidden from playing with Alex at school.
