A canine smartphone has been launched.

Telecommunications company Motorola have unveiled the Scout 5000 collar – which has been described as a smartphone for pooches – allowing pampered pets to keep in contact with their owners.

The device – which is on sale in the US for $199 (£130) – lets owners stream videos of what the pups are up to, tracks their location, monitors the number of footsteps taken and even enables them to chat to the canines.

As well as the camera capabilities, the splash, paw and chew proof collar is fully equipped with a microphone meaning the mutt can “talk” back when away from it’s owner.
