‘Tis the season to be jolly indeed! Now that the holidays are upon us and invitations to festive, glam and themed parties abound, we realise how important it is to have your skin in tip top shape.

We got an exclusive interview with Rhema Akabuogu, House of Tara’s National Retail Artist, and if you ever get to meet her, you’ll understand why she was the perfect person to ask. With skin as smooth as velvet and facial bone structure that many women have gone under the knife for, she understands just how important it is to treat your skin right.

My skin and my makeup is what I sell. I’m a walking billboard. Rhema Akabuogu.

Before sharing her tips, she asks about the weather, proving that your skin care regimen is affected by extreme weather conditions.

  1. Party hard but never sleep with your makeup on. Always make sure you take it off no matter how tired or drunk you are even if you have to use makeup wipes at the very least.
  2. Ensure you scrub, cleanse and moisturize and that you follow your regimen the morning after based on your skins needs. For those with oily skin, you need to remember to moisturize especially after you’ve cleansed and toned seeing as you’ve stripped your skin of its moisture.
  3. Stay away from the sun. Might be tempting but the weather is not as good as it used to be when were kids so you can’t really afford to play in the sun and not get burnt. The best bet would be for you to have your moisturizer with SPF as your base (it will always rise to the top) and not have it in your foundation. Another safe bet is a sun hat!
