To highlight the fact that the selfie has never been more en vogue, the company has teamed up with fashion designer Christian Cowan-Sanluis to create the Acer Selfie Hat. And no, it’s not a joke.
No, the glittering pink sombrero with an integrated flip-down Acer Iconic A-1 840 tablet is being touted as a “one-of-a-kind ” piece of couture millinery which will be making its catwalk debut as part of Christian Cowan-Sanluis’s latest collection at London Fashion Week.
Earlier this month, a company called JD Beauty launched something called the Selfie Brush, which is a smartphone-holding brush with an integrated mirror so that those in need of snapping a quick self-portrait can adjust their ‘do first, then hold the brush at arm’s length to take the shot and look in the mirror to make sure they’re striking the right pose. But the Selfie-Hat takes things to a whole other level.
The choice of a sombrero rather than another type of hat is due to its unbroken circular rim that means the wearer can rotate the brim and therefore the tablet through 360° in search of that perfect pose and, because the device snapping the picture is a tablet, not a smartphone, the viewing screen is much bigger.
According to Acer this means that as well as the tight look, the wearer will get a sense of how light and shade influence a photo’s composition. Then once the picture’s taken, the tablet can be used to post the results to the social media platform of your choice.
