Iconic bridge in Paris collapses due to weight of “love”

Love can make a bridge collapse – literally.

A segment of the iconic Pont des Arts Bridge in Paris, France has collapsed.

Just as critics feared and predicted, a section of metal mesh about 2.4m long adorned with hundreds of padlocks collapsed inward onto the iconic bridge in Paris, commonly known as the “City of Love,” due to the sheer weight, on Sunday, reported by France24.

The “love locks” phenomenon, in which couples inscribe their names, fasten the lock on the railing, and throw the key into the River Seine as a gesture of their everlasting love; has consumed the structure of the bridge with hundreds of thousands of locks attached.

I wonder if the couples who had their locks attached to the collapsed section broke-up instantly – #justsaying!
