Elie Saab’s couture show in Paris on Wednesday was the picture of ethereal elegance, while collections by Jean Paul Gauthier and Maison Martin Margiela won plaudits from the fashion pack.
The Lebanese designer’s show began with a collection of light, floral-themed gowns in a dusted rose. Next out were similarly airy-feeling creations in white that also played on the recurrent floral motif. And so it went in deep red and then gold, each stunning gown accentuated by a hint of lace or intricate beadwork.

The production ended with one of the models gliding down the catwalk in a breathtaking embroidered wedding dress. Overall, Saab’s show was classically stunning and clearly a winner with the well-heeled front row, despite a model in a sheer embroidered gown taking a tumble on the runway.

Other names worth mentioning on day four of the Paris couture shows include Maison Martin Margiela’s bold and colourful collection (with models sporting full face masks), as well as Frank Sorbier’s, Rad Hourani’s and Jean Paul Gauthier’s.
