Is ‘Pacific Rim’ the sci-fi blockbuster of the year?

Opening in Kenyan theatres Friday, ‘Pacific Rim’ has been called the “mother of all monster movies” by some critics already – that’s a strong statement to live up to.

The blockbuster was filmed with 3D-like Dolby Atmos sound, using the newest technology to ensure movie goers will be in the thick of the battles between giant robots and fearsome monsters in ‘Pacific Rim.”

A sci-fi film directed by Guillermo del Toro, ‘Pacific Rim’ was also written by del Toro and Travis Beacham.  The film stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Rob Kazinsky, Max Martini and Ron Pearlman.

Revolving around anonymous colossal creatures (known as Kaiju) beneath the Pacific Ocean that aim to destroy Earth, the all-star cast strives to destroy the monsters by creating their very own Jaegers (gigantic humanoid disambiguation with each possibly controlled by two pilots, and have minds that are connected by a neural bridge).

The epic face-off between Jaegers and Kaiju promises to be an entertaining film.
