Chris Kelly, one half of 90’s hip hop group Kriss Kross died yesterday in his hometown of Atlanta. Kelly was found unconscious in his home and rushed to Atlanta Medical Centre where he was pronounced dead at 5.30 pm (EST).

Kelly found fame alongside his partner Chris ‘Daddy Mac’ Smith as a pre-teen in the early 90s, after being discovered by a then eighteen year old Jermaine Dupri at a shopping mall.

Their album Totally Krossed Out, released in 1992, was entirely produced by Dupri and sold over four million copies, prompted by the success of the single ‘Jump’ which topped the Billboard Charts for 8 weeks.

The duo went on to release two more albums then separated to pursue solo careers. Kris Kross had reunited this year for the So So Def tour.

Kris Kross were also famous for wearing their clothes backwards, which had a cultural impact amongst teens.

Chris Kelly was 34 years old. Autopsy results are expected later this week.
