Behind the scenes at the Channel O Awards

The Channel O Music Video Awards are still the hottest music awards ceremony that the continent has to offer and in true E fashion, they have managed to raise the profile of the gig even further.

While musicians, celebrities, honoured invitees and some area residents were getting ready to attend the annual ceremony that went down in Soweto on November 17, Channel O managed to capture the action behind the scenes ala Joan Rivers.

This first ever screening of the OMVA Awards Journal has documented the most dramatic incidents that usually happen backstage, how the artistes prepared, hung out together and got ready for the big awards evening.

In the Journal, Channel O VJ Denrele hosts OMVA Fashion File, looking at the fashion hits and moments of ‘what were they thinking’.

“Joining him on the fashion panel is: Eku, a model and actress from 53 Extra, Vimbai, Africa Magic Entertainment Star Gist co-anchor and Boogy, stylist to many African stars. Together they look at who brought their fashion A-game to the awards’ red carpet and who didn’t,” according to a statement from Channel O.

Kenya was well represented at the awards this year. Hip hop band Camp Mulla were wearing very colourful 80s top of the pops type clothes, reggae artist Wyre was dapper in a black suit with purple lining, Channel O VJ Joey was glittering in a silver tube dress and the yummy singer Habida dazzled on stage. What will the Fashion think of their outfits?

You can watch this first ever show tonight on GOtv (channel 70) and DStv (channel 320).
