L’Oréal, the global beauty manufacturing company and the Kenya Association of Dermatologists are currently hosting The L’Oréal Workshop “African Hair and Skin” in Nairobi. The workshop which started on the 8th of November will run until Sunday the 11th, the agenda being to boost understanding on ideal care for African hair and skin.
Strongly involved in developing knowledge on hair and skin of people across the world L’Oreal’s scientists, will share insight on suitable care in these fields. The workshop aims to create a better understanding on caring for the largest body tissue; the skin, as well as for the African hair.
Patricia Ithau, L’Oreal East Africa Limited Managing Director said: “At L’Oreal, we are committed to African beauty care and this workshop will be a perfect opportunity for our scientists to shed light on some of the concerns regarding care for the African hair and skin”.
L’Oréal Research and Innovation Medical Director, Dr. Verschoore added: “We are very dedicated to share information on our research findings in this field to enable people to effectively tackle issues such as skin pigmentation and aging.”
The workshop, in its fourth edition, will also touch on hair and scalp concerns, sun-induced damages as well as products conception and evaluation, among other concerns.
The beauty companys’ investigation on African hair and skin began in the 90’s. A dedicated research center, the “L’Oréal Institute for Ethnic Hair &Skin Research”, was inaugurated in 2003 in Chicago due to the huge population diversity of this city that hosts more than 70 ethnicities, to the excellence of the scientific environment and to the Softsheen Carson origin.
L’Oreal has also established an evaluation center in South Africa devoted to consumer insight and clinical development studies.
Dr. Kamuri, President of the Kenya Association of Dermatologists hailed L’Oréal for organizing the conference, which he described as a productive and educative forum: “We are proud to support L’Oréal as the group shares research findings on dermatology for the benefit of the general public, to increase and promote awareness on skin and hair care.”
