Dear Kenyans, Akon is asking if you are ready for him. Are you? The US-based Senegalese singer announced on twitter yesterday that he is coming to Kenya for a concert on October 27/28 and for the sceptics; it has come from the horse’s mouth this time.

Soon after his first performance in Kenya alongside Wyclef Jean in 2009, Akon was said to be coming to Kenya for a concert, twice, but that did not materialise, twice.
However organiser, Sam Lentz is adamant that this time round, thrice, it will happen.
“He will be performing on the two days. As per the contract, there will be an evening show on the 27 and then a family show the next afternoon,” he told Capital Lifestyle on telephone.
Sam, who has been out of the country for a while, blamed Akon’s previous management for the mishaps that led to the shows being cancelled. He explained that he went out to the US personally and secured the deal with Akon’s new management – Creative Artists Agency.
“Akon will be performing with a full band set and will arrive in Nairobi on October 24, a few days ahead of the event. It failed before, but this time it is going to happen,” assures Sam.
Akon’s hit track with Naija boys P-Square is hotter than mandazi and coca cola right now, and the Senegalese star is busy recording a new album at the moment.
It is hoped that the musician will indeed tone it down for the family show.
“The tweet was part of the contract and in a few days we’re expecting a TV and radio drop as well. This is the real deal,” he said.
So who’s ready for Akon? The venue, Carnivore Grounds, have already been booked.
