Remote cameras replace photographers at Olympics

Have you been following the 2012 London Olympics?  Have you wondered how the photographers are able to capture sweeping panoramics, underwater photos, and rooftop images; and all without dangerously hanging from the ceiling or wearing dive suits?

Thanks to security reasons, The Olympics Committee has banned photographers from the stadium roofs.  So, global newswires like AFP and Reuters have resorted to going high-tech.

Robotic Camera Rigs

The AFP team together with Mark Roberts Motion Control came up with dozens of customized robotic camera rigs throughout the Olympic facilities.  Each rig is equipped with a Nikon D4 and a 16 to 400mm zoom lens.
