Joe Thomas: a thriller at Bomas!

The frantic screams of more than 2,000 romantics rent through the air at the Bomas of Kenya on Saturday where musician Joe Thomas gave a heartfelt performance.

Men watched in silent envy as their women sang along to all of Joe’s classic hits at the Tusker Lite Experience concert, and the electric vibes were compounded when the singer slipped out of his cream jacket.

He started off with suave sexy tracks like “Let’s Make Love Tonight”, and “I Wanna Know” before getting down to business on his acoustic guitar for “All That I Am” and “The Love Scene”.

With face glistening and shirt buttons open low, a totally-in-the-moment Joe danced and serenaded the crowd, drawing a tear from the ladies now and then.

Festivities kicked off bang on time, as a sizeable crowd had already gathered about 30 minutes to the start of the concert. The fans told Capital Lifestyle that they wanted to get there early to get the best seats in the house. The venue filled up quickly, and first on stage was live band Different Faces, which easily fed off the crowd’s energy to whet musical appetites – impressively.

Up next was a stunning June Gachui in red, who held the stage until the impatient audience began chanting Joe’s name. But only when June joined in the chanting and her band played along, did the 39-year-old multiple Grammy nominee show face. Deep into his performance, as he bent down to shake hands with the fans, one lady quickly took his black face towel from his hand.

Alcohol prices at the venue were sold at the recommended retail price and waiters did their best to serve the masses. Tight security and ample parking made the event a definite success.

As DJ Andre took to the decks after an energetic 75-minute performance by Joe, the 6-man band came down from the stage to mingle with the audience – another treat for all the single ladies in the building.

The event was sponsored by Tusker Lite, G4S, Virgin Atlantic, the Tribe Hotel and Capital FM.
