M-Net broadens East African portfolio

M-Net has broadened its East African content with the launch of Mashariki Mix last week. The show by Nusu-nusu productions is intended to reflect East Africa’s lifestyle, including people and places that make the region thrive.

For 30 minutes every week, presenters Nic Wagondu (BBA) and Sarah Hassan will showcase food, shopping, trends, stars, VIP parties and even tech gadgets!

M-Net Africa Managing Director Biola Alabi commented on the new series:

“Anyone who’s visited East Africa and experienced the style, energy and vibrancy of places like Nairobi, Dar es Salaam and Kampala knows that there’s so much to do, see and explore… Visitors and locals alike have their pick of stylish night-life, trendy shopping, gorgeous resorts, brilliant eateries plus the opportunity to interact with interesting, dynamic people carving out their own success.”

Dubbed a magazine show, Mashariki Mix will be hosted by Nic on M-Net (Thursday) and duplicated in Swahili by the lovely Sarah for Africa Magic Swahili (Sunday).

Biola says the show is a platform that is intended to showcase the region.

The show is among many others that were proposed to M-Net, which is seeking to expand its regional footprint.

With most of Western Africa well covered, Africa Magic Swahili and M-Net East have opened up their doors to shows from further East, to tap into local talent and give their subscribers a slice of their own pie.
