Heavy D post mortem inconclusive

A post-mortem carried out on the late rapper Heavy D has failed to establish what killed the 44 year old.

He died on November 8 just an hour after he collapsed in an exterior hallway ay his Beverly Hills home.

The rapper experienced breathing difficulties while returning home from shopping, and died later at the Cedars Sinai Medical Centre where he had been rushed for treatment.

According to the BBC, the Los Angeles coroner’s office has deferred judgment on how the rapper died suddenly, even as a coroner’s spokesman said there were no illegal drugs found in his home.

Heavy D’s funeral has been set for New York on Friday, and his friend rapper Sean Combs will speak at the private funeral service at Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon.

Born Dwight Arrington Myers in Jamaica in 1967, Heavy D found fame with his band The Boyz scoring hits with such tracks as Now That We Found Love.

He appeared on Michael Jackson’s 1991 song Jam and recently performed at the singer’s tribute concert in Cardiff.
