700-bob phones for an Orange Christmas

(KEN MACHARIA) Telkom Kenya has lowered the cost of selected handsets and devices as part of its ongoing Christmas promotion.

Alcatel handsets will be sold for as little as Sh700 and will be available at all Orange and Mobicom shops across the country, until January 4, 2012.

The newly introduced Orange 21Mbps-3G modem, has also been reduced and will now retail at Sh1,799.

Chief Executive Officer Mickael Ghossein said they have also lowered the cost of other handsets and devices during the holiday season, with a view to rewarding loyal customers and as a strategy to win over new subscribers.

“We have reduced the cost of a wide range of its devices by up to 40%, at a time when the cost of living has gone up in most Kenyan households, because we are committed to keeping our commitment to offer value for money,” he said.

“We have had a relatively good year with over 100% increase in our subscriber base – as a result of implementing our growth strategy effectively. It is only fair that we share our success by rewarding our customers.”

In addition to offers in devices, customers who buy middle and high end phones will get a reward of 1 GB worth of data. New orange customers will get Sh200 worth of talk time.

Other data offers include the D-Link wireless router with modem retailing for Sh6690 down from Sh7890, while small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) can purchase the newly launched Orange Flybox retailing at Sh16,999, complete with a free fixed telephone set.
