How well do you like the disco?

August 2, 2011 – Let’s face it. It takes guts to be genius, or to even try to be the whiz kid in any relationship, more especially a pairing with music.

Early Sunday morning (as early as 1.30am) Muthoni the Drummer Queen took to a very good-looking stage on the lawns of Club Volar (Ngong Race-Course) for a performance that culminated in the launch of the video for her latest track “Welcome to the Disco”.

Young rock band Dove Slimme opened the event, before Camp Mullah took over, throwing down a little hip hop to keep the palettes open for Muthoni.

Dressed in a black jacket, black pants, red rubber-shoes, red bow-tie and white shirt, Muthoni started by orchestrating her two drummers (yes, two) and two keyboardists (yes, two) into a crescendo that set the stage for more than an hour of solid on-stage brilliance.

Muthoni is a hard act to predict, and I say that to her credit. Even though you most probably will not hear what she is saying, the energy in the music will keep you waiting for the next one.

We asked you about the song itself recently, now we want you to rate the video. On a scale of 1-10, what is your score?

Islamic Terrorism, Islamic Militancy” Mr. President? What does this mean? I’m dumpfounded!

    Dear MR.president,
There are many things wrong with your article. The use of the word Islamic is highly problematic. For starters there has been not a single link between Islam the religion and acts of violence that are motivated by run away injustice and oppression. Lest we forget our own freedom fighters were listed as terrorists by the British oppressors. There is still no provable link between poverty and terrorism. Finally the whole link between al-shabaab is more of a stretch of the imagination. There is however a link between European ships illegally fishing of Somali waters toxic waste dumping and piracy for instance. MR.president if you fund the foreign office with qualified individuals and have a foreign policy that is based on peace building as opposed to war warmongering on a verb, then we can get somewhere. The happenings at the coast in which a Muslim cleric was killed for a second time is going to soon open a can of worms that neither you nor your government will be able to stop. The arbitrary arrest of Muslims, there incarceration without due process or trail, there illegal deportation to foreign countries to be tortured and molested. The rendition of Kenyans to foreign lands at the behest of the C.I.A. Your government is the one that is breeding the infancy of domestic terrorism. The stigmatisation of Muslims by the media that is a script Bourne out of the west and not Kenya. Time and time again we are being visited by violence that is born not on our shores but in foreign lands and it is always targeted at foreigners. It is for something to be done. That is indigenous to us and not foreign to us and the solution lies within us. shutting down transfers without providing an alternative? really what do you think that causes. Shutting down muslim run charities what do you think that causes. While your claim to fight terrorism and you say its caused by poverty. THEN WHY ARE YOU NOT PROVIDING AN ALTERNATIVE???
