Game Changer will be launching regular gaming challenges in the coming weeks, which will surely spearhead the gaming culture in Kenya.

 

Video Game Use

Introduced first in the 1970s, video games have been a popular leisure activity with a vast following of children and adults sin the late 1980s.

Since the 90s, some parents have raised concerns in regards to the increasingly violent content of video games and potential health problems that may arise from continued use, sparking a heated debate of the effects of video games.

Though the debate will surely continue, the gaming industry has stayed resilient and is as big as it has ever been.  The E3 Expo 2011 saw close to 50,000 visitors descend on the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Researchers have yet to provide conclusive evidence that video games are harmful to users.  Recommendations concerning video games must remain conservative and it is up to parents to provide guidance in the selection of games and daily usage in the child’s best interests.
