May 12, 2011 – Models, photographers, event organizers, sponsors and the media today gathered to launch The Kenyan Ford Supermodel competition (read searching for the Face of Africa) which is back!
This means that a new face will soon be unveiled -the Kenyan Face of Africa- but only after a rigorous process of selecting the beauty that best qualifies the title.
The crowning of the Face of Africa (Kenya edition) will take place on the 28th of this month and the winner will then battle it out for the overall title (Face of Africa) with other African beauties which will take place in New York some time in July.

Lyndsey McIntyre (Surazuri’s founder) and her team traverse the country in search of potential models. The likes of Anne Kemunto 02, Ajuma Nasenyana 03,  Issabel Karuthiru 05, Farida Diba 07, Alice Niyonkuru 08, Gift Opar 09 and Diana Nekoye 10 are some of the former Face of Africa (Kenya edition) winners all discovered through the competition.

Many of the local finalists that have been picked in the past have gone on to successful modelling careers in Kenya.

Lyndsey partners with Michelle Shepherd of Habari Consulting in organising the scouting and the event. This year they are joined by Grace Makosewe or Nairobi VIP Parties.

The Ford Models Supermodel of the world Search has been running internationally for 31 years. For the last two years Kenya was the only country with a black African representative. The winner of the competition wins a $250,000 modelling contract.

Surazuri was established in 1986 and is recognised at East Africa’s most reputable model agency. They continue to work hand in hand with Ford New York to find potential supermodels in the East African region.
