Is Lady Gaga working too hard?

March 2, 2011 – I have searched high and low, but there is absolutely nothing profound I could find in Lady Gaga’s new single Born This Way.

After several weeks of hype and anticipation, it should be illegal to just fashion some sounds in form of a nursery rhyme, and tout them as genius.

Lady Gaga is a force to reckon with in terms of what Kenyans would call ‘thinking outside the box’. She has often worked herself to exhaustion, since the pressure to be different must be soaring by the hour; read: Nikki Minaj, Imogen Heap, etc…

But from Poker Face (genius), to Alejandro (struggling) and now Born This Way (nursery), is the brilliance fading?

Since it’s not in the song, I’m guessing the oomph or punch-line is somewhere in the message. “Don’t be a drag, just be a queen…?”

I’m told that loosely translated, that could be about celebrating transsexuals, and personally, I don’t think the video helps their cause much. Or is she talking about good and evil?

Anyway, according to Wikipedia, transsexualism is an individual’s identification with a gender inconsistent or not culturally associated with their biological sex. A medical diagnosis can be made if a person experiences discomfort as a result of a desire to be a member of the opposite sex.

My point is though, it’s a boring song. What do you think of it? Is it more shocking or appalling than Rihanna’s S&M?
