November 17, 2010 – You may have known it as the “Shangilia Kikwetu Festival” before but on Saturday December 11 at the Nigerian Diplomatic Compound, it will go down as the Tafrija Festival…and this year (as they say) it promises to be bigger and better!

40 top Kenyan artistes have been invited and are expected to perform at the event. The whole Tafrija concept is based on marketing musicians to the international community. In the spirit of the festive season some of the proceeds from the festival will be donated to three children’s homes in Thika, Kibera and Kangemi.

“On top of the list of artistes who will be performing at the festival there will be two top Nigerian stars gracing the occasion. This is to help enhance the bond that continues to form between Kenya and Nigeria. We would like the event to have both a Nigerian and Kenyan feel to it,” said Dr. Chijioke Wigwe, the High Commissioner of Nigeria to Kenya and Seychelles.

This year’s musical festival will be different from the previous years in that the artistes were be involved directly in the planning and organising of the event from the word go. Also for the first time, a professional producer will run the show.

The organizers (Communiqué Solutions) thanked the artistes for the enormous support and team spirit they have shown in pursuing this noble initiative. They also thanked the Nigerian envoy for his keen interest, encouragement and immense support and for allowing his Compound to be used as the venue for this year’s festival.
