October 28, 2010 – The much-hyped Saturday show by Rwandese singer Alpha Rwirangira was postponed after contracting malaria while in Mombasa.

According to his medical records, Alpha was treated on Friday 22, October at Edelvale Trust, in Nairobi where he was diagnosed with Malaria.

The doctor’s report read: “He has been advised to avoid excretion or strenuous activities, if possible bed rest for a period of one week i.e. till the completion of treatment.”

Alpha who was last year’s Tusker Project Fame talent show winner was to launch his debut album, One Africa at the Hotel Intercontinental backed by Eric Wainaina.

A release from the organisers stated: “The show had to be postponed to a later date because unfortunately Alpha, the main attraction of the evening started feeling unwell on the evening of Friday October 22. He was taken to see a doctor who diagnosed him with malaria and prescribed bed rest for atleast 5 days.

“We think this was brought on by the trip to Mombasa and the climatic change. Alpha is feeling much better and requested that he goes back home to spend time with his family and recover. The album launch and concert will still take place in a few weeks and details will be communicated to all his fans as soon as arrangements have been made.”

Alpha’s debut album titled, has 10 singles out of which 5 are collaborations with East African acts like AY, Bebe Cool and fellow reality show contestant Christian among others.
