Crowne Plaza hotel launches this month

August 2, 2010 – The new up market Five-Star Hotel in Nairobi’s Upper Hill, Crowne Plaza is set to launch in a big way later this month.

The hotel, which opened its doors earlier this year, is planning a major launch where the guest host could be Mr President Kibaki.

The posh establishment recently played host to an Afro-Indo fashion show, which showcased works by Tanzanian designer Ally Rahemtullah and Kenya’s Sonia Sharma.

The event attracted hundreds of Asian businessmen and women from Kenya, Tanzania and other countries.

Crowne Plaza Marketing Manager, Jannine Juma says the hotel is currently positioning itself in the market with the aim of providing state-of-the-art business conference facilities especially for the corporate companies situated in Nairobi’s Upper Hill area.

Juma however noted that the hotel will also seek to attract other social and entertainment events as a strategy to plonk themselves firmly in the Kenyan market.

Crowne Plaza, which is the latest biggest foreign investment in the country, comes even as the hotel industry is experiencing a boom. Recent statistics indicate that the tourist arrivals this year have surpassed those of 2007, which were touted as the highest in the decade.

Recent hotels that have come up in the last two years include Ole Sereni and Tribe Hotel.
