May 27, 2010 – Former TV news anchor Esther Arunga has withdrawn a case she had filed against her parents for allegedly interfering with her rights and freedom.

Arunga through lawyer Harun Ndubi on Wednesday withdrew the suit saying she does not wish to continue with the proceedings against her parents.

The High Court allowed her to do so and withdrew the matter. The case had been listed for hearing on Wednesday.

Arunga had accused her parents of subjecting her to a psychiatric check-up and keeping her in their house against her will.

She wanted the court to stop them from having any physical control over her. She had also sued a doctor who performed the psychiatrist tests on her.
