Skinny Jeans: To wear or not?

May 6, 2010 – Ladies, if you have excess junk in the trunk then skinny jeans should not find their way on your body let alone your closet.

As their name suggests, Skinny jeans are meant for the skinny and that is the only body type they flatter.

For the well endowed derriere-wise, skinnies will just make you look fuller-unless that is your intention- and their stretchy material does not make them easy to wear either. This is because they really hug your body hence amplifying your bulges (I’m talking about hips, butt and thighs) making them all too pronounced.

Ill-fitting ones pinch your mid-section giving you the muffin shape.

Bending while wearing one could produce quite a disturbing sight to anyone in the vicinity as their low cut design allows you to “moon” everyone. A long top will have to come in handy in this case.

Anyway, I think straight or flared jeans would be way safer to wear as they are for any body type and they give you a balanced look. Although if you are really into skinny jeans and feel comfortable in them then go for it!

However, I’m sure you have been hearing and reading about this since forever so I will go on about some new trend called men’s skinny jeans.

Yep! skinny jeans have crossed over to the male department and I must admit that I’m not particularly sure how I feel about this trend. Not many men can pull it off though as it is not a look for your average guy.

Three reasons why?

One, skinny jeans will of course make you look bigger than you actually are. Yes, guys too.

Two, it is not the most comfortable clothing item to wear when you consider the crotch area. It may not be really accommodative as skinny jeans should be fitting.

Finally, they could make walking difficult as a result of the discomfort around the crotch area, which forces you to sag them, hence showing your… undies too.

If you are all muscle then avoid skinny jeans like the plague! This is for your own good as you don’t want to look like you have been stuffed inside a tiny costume.

There are those really super tight ones that are meant to show off curves and legs. These are definitely too feminine so stay far away from them as they will not do you any justice.

Who wants to see curves and legs on a man on the street? The baggier skinny jeans are way better and when worn with a pair of Converse especially they would get a definite nod.

The neon colored ones really creep me out. So even if you have the body that can handle skinny jeans please stick to either blue or black. Leave the neon coloured ones to the runway models, skater boys, rockers, at the store and to the likes of Chris Brown, Kanye West and company.
