April 30, 2010 – 63 year old Afeni Shakur, -Late legendary rapper  Tupac Shakur’s mom- has been arrested on drug charges.

She was charged on April 16 with felony possession of marijuana, simple possession of a controlled substance and maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance.

Afeni Shakur who is also known for her work as an activist, was arrested in Lumberton, North Carolina, earlier this month.

She is currently free on bond, and her bail was set at $10,000. She is due back in court May 10.

Afeni has been running Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation which she founded in 1997 and whose main aim is to uphold her son’s legacy.
