And the Groove Awards nominees are…

groove_1_992176610.gif  March 31, 2010 – Well, this year’s groove awards list of nominees is finally out. 6 nominees each for the 31 categories has been released after the long process that saw gospel artists download entry forms and apply to get a slot(s) in the 2010 affair.

Some of the nominees in various categories include:
Male artist of the year – Allan Aaron, Ben Githae, Daddy Owen, Holy Dave, JimmyGait and Juliani

Female artist of the year – Betty Bayo, Emmy Kosgei,Eunice Njeri, EstherWahome, Marion Shako and Pastor Joan Wairimu.

New artist/ group of the year – Alemba, Alice, Kamande, Eko Dydda, Jero Mash, Kris Eeeh Baba and Masha Mapenzi.

Song of the year – Huratiti by Jimmy Gait, Kiriro by Daddy Owen ft. Allan Aaron and Kerah, Mabataro by Ben Githae, Nikona reason by Holy Dave and Eko Dydda, Pamela by Ringtone and SK Blue and Taunet Nelel and Emmy Kosgei.

Album of the year – All I can Say-Benjamin Webi, I can Do it- Holy Dave, System ya Kapungala- Daddy Owen, Someday- M.O.G, Taunet Nelel- Emmy Kosgei, 10 Ideas- Wernono Family.

Video of the year – Buzzin-Chit Chat, Kiriro- Daddy Owen ft Allan Aaron & Kerah, Mtoto wa Sonko- DNA ft Kambua and Kahura, Pamela-Ringtone & SK Blue, Songa-Astar, Wewe Pekee- Alice Kamande.

Dance group of the year -Cream Dancers, Dice, Ignitors, Nana Dancers, Saints and Spartans.

DJ of the year – DJ Krowbar,DJ Johnny Celeb ,DJ Riq, DJ Mo, DJ Soxxy, and DJ Sanch.

The list also includes artists of the year form Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda.

As mentioned earlier, successful nominees will ggroove_2_933335934.gifo on ‘three groove tours’, to Mombasa, Kisumu and Nairobi. The tours are meant to have the double purpose of marketing the gospel music industry and promoting the nominees’ music and products across the country.

The first groove tour will be in Mombasa this Easter weekend (April 4) at the Mama Ngina Drive Park. The next one will be in Kisumu city on April 11 at the Jomo Kenyatta sports ground, while the final tour will be in Nairobi on April 18 at the KICC. All events in all the cities are from 1pm through to 6pm and entry is absolutely free.
