Nine Kenyan artists get Kora fever

March 9, 2010 – This year, the Kora All Africa Music Awards will be held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso on April 4, and this year there are nine Kenyans who’ve made it to the nominations.

Nameless (surprise surprise), Wahu (ss), Valeria Kimani, A-Star, Neema Ntalel, Niki, Eric Wainaina, Redsan, and Just a Band have been nominated in various categories, some with more than one nomination.

In the Best Artist or Group in East Africa category, four Kenyan artists feature. These are: NAMELESS_AND_WAHU_831922262.jpg
Nameless – “Salari”
A-Star – “In the name of Jesus”
Valerie Kimani -“Besame Mucho” and
Wahu – “Sweet Love”

A-Star has also been nominated in two other categories, namely Best hip-hop artist or Group and Best spiritual Artist or Group for the same song ‘In the name of Jesus”.

Valerie Kimani’s “Besame Mucho” has also been nominated in the category Best Arrangement, and in the same category is Neema Ntalel with her song “Foolish”.

Most Promising Artist or Group category has Nikki as the sole Kenyan representative with her song “Niwe Wako Milele”.

Eric Wainana’s “Twende Twende” will compete with Kenya’s experimental boy band Just a Band and their song “Iwinyo Piny” in the Best African Video Clip category.

redsan_808472299.jpgRedsan’s “Desire” has been nominated for Best Ragga Artist/Group and he will be up against five other African artists: Blackky from Nigeria, Chronik 2H from Senegal, Jusa from Zimbabwe, Ischam Morrahd from DR Congo and Lex T who is also from Nigeria.

The awards take place at the Palais des Sports and this year African artists’ performances during the event will be a tribute to the late King of Pop Michael Jackson.
